LUXURY ACCOMMODATION

IN A RESTORED WARTIME RESCUE BOAT

… ON DRY LAND!

Red Hill Boat rests on the traditional lands and waters of the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung people. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging.

MV ACTION 02-14 was built in 1942 for the RAAF, attached to the 20th Squadron Catalinas operating around Darwin and New Guinea in WW2.

After the war, she was a courtesy boat for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in NSW.

Then she was the boat
from which the
Tasmanian shipwreck of the
Coramba was discovered.

A story of drama, victory, royalty and adventure … ACTION is now Red Hill Boat  … a unique, luxurious B&B resting in private grounds in the heart of the wine and fine-dining district of the Mornington Peninsula.

Red Hill Boat features a number of character-filled small rooms and ‘The Queen’s Deck’, with restored original fittings and modern amenities including wi-fi, smart TV, quality bluetooth sound system, Queen-size bed (of course), electric blankets, kitchenette facilities, heating and air-conditioning,  plus an outside bath, barbecue area and outdoor fireplace.

Unique features include a relaxing shower sunken into the floor of the old engine room, while the wheelhouse boasts a working VHF radio and PA system, and the Captain’s Console simulates engines with throttle control or provides gentle sound effects to sleep by. The sumptuous saloon is perfect for a relaxing read or an engrossing cinema-like TV experience, or tune into the 1940’s radio to listen to 1940’s radio broadcasts.

There is no other B&B in the world like the Red Hill Boat.

Red Hill Boat is, well … a boat.

Although surprisingly spacious, it has small doorways, low ceilings, steps up and down and narrow walkways, making it unsuitable for the very old, the very young, the very large or the very infirm.
